Walking
The southern area of Scotland is host to some of the most spectacular walking country anywhere in the world. The Southern Upland Way is Scotland's longest walk and stretches west to east from Portpatrick's romantic seascapes over the Mull of Galloway to the dramatic North Sea cliffs at Cocksburnspath. Tracking through some of Scotland's most beautiful and varied scenery, it offers an unforgettable holiday experience for serious walkers and weekend visitors alike.
The Clachan Inn is situated at the end of section 5 of the walk and provides a welcome break before starting section 6 - to Cairnhead & Polskeoch.
For those walkers who don't fancy tackling the entire 340Km of the Southern Upland Way we're also on the doorstep of a number of gentler walks. For example:
Walk 1: Dalry to Waterside Hill (circular) Distance: 4.5 miles return
Walk 2: Dalry Northwards Distance: 8.5 - 11.5 miles
Walk 3: Stroanpatrick to Manquhill Distance: 7.5 miles return
Walk 4: Stroanpatrick to Allan's Cairn Distance: 17.5 miles return
